Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I would assume that the DX is a stripped down Camry with no power options
LE - ? power options ?, A/C
XLE - fully loaded version with leather, sunroof and ABS as options ? 4 wheel disc ?
SE I read in a mag that its a sporty version of the Camry offered with both engines, it has stiffer suspension, blacked out trim, spoiler and a short final drive ratio, I guess that it has 4 wheel discs ? how bout options ? same as LE ?
Can you guy fill me in on the difference between the models and options ?
i own a 96' dx and it has power windows and locks, a/c, actually it is pretty well loaded for being the lowest model i was quite impressed...but i was just wonderin where the difference was with LE version
the diff from the dx and le is a mystery but usually you have the ability ofr more options in the le all camrys come standard with power. the le gets a few things like the power button on the a/t and most dx's(i could be wrong are manual) where as most le's are a/t not that that means a damn thing. Le's sell for more they all are equipped with the same engine i4 or v6 depending on gens what 6 you have and what model xle or se v6 will determine 3vz or 1vz all i4s are 5sfe. (except mine) xle is fully loaded and se is the "sport model" camry if there is such a thing. Most se's are m/t unless specified a/t. that about runs out the badges on camrys. if your in the market go se or dx. dx is the lightest camry. And well se is the sport one duh... I have a heavy and previously slow LE if you wondered.
The lesson to be learned here is.... That Toyota likes to put badges on there cars that dont necessarily mean a thing just so they can charge us more now isnt that nice. because there really isnt anything you cant put in dx thats in an le.
what i did not really understand was everyone was telling me that all Camry 4cyls have discs in the front and drums in the back..but i have discs in the front and back...as for me i have a 1995 LE and i have almost every option you can think of except leather..which i dont really like that much anyway living in FL(IMO)

This is just a guess, I actually don't know, but I think the biggest noticable difference between the DX and other models are that some parts aren't painted to match the body color, such as the side mirrors.
DX - unpainted side mirrors, and door sidings... rear center tail is black with camry on it only reverse lamp in the middle.. no power anything unless the guy bought options, seat cloth is not as soft as LE
LE - painted body color side mirrors, and door sidings.. comes with pwr everything abs is not standard on LE and 4 wheels discs arent standard as well rims are also optional.. although it comes with hubcaps hehe... stereo is different from a standard DX including ( canadian version only ) DX plus
SE is basically a DX with extra options painted door mouldings ( mirrors are optional) sport seats, 5spd, no power .. LE options are available and ABS option is available
XLE = cream of the crop full load !!!
v6 just refers to the engine addition. v6 DX , v6 LE, V6 SE, v6 XLE... this is all from my original brochure for the camry hehehee.. i didnt add a lot of things too much to type...
i have a 96' dx and it has painted side moldings, but it doesn't have painted mirrors like u said...and that seems to be the only difference on the exterior i can tell from a dx to le
