Australia Camry 95 Air Con intermittent

My 95 Camry air con acts funny on very hot days, but only rarely - twice this summer. Normally it works fine. But on a hot day, after running for 1/2 hour or longer, no more cold air. The air coming out is progressively warmer, the farther the vent is from the driver side (right side in Australia).

Before all the cold air stops flowing, I close the vent on driver side, and the downstream vent regains some of the cold air. So I figure it needs recharging. BUT IT WORKS FINE AGAIN THE NEXT DAY OR AFTER COOLING OFF FOR A FEW HOURS.

The guy at the shop says it needs recharging too. But after recharge, it stops working immediately at the shop and I'm told there is a blockage in the evaporator. A day later, I turn on the air con and it works beautifully again and colder yet after the recharge.

So my guess: since it is reasonably cold before recharge, the freon level is not that low. Could it be something is stuck - a valve stuck open or close when the cold air stops flowing. But slowly "it" gets back into position. So the next day it works fine. If so, what is stuck?

I am about to let the guy pull open the dash board and work on the evaporator, but I' want to be sure he's on the right track.

Heres what I think. I had the same issue. I tried adding freon and the compressor stopped even turning! I got a decent gauge on there and it was over-filled with freon.

Heres the deal. Heat = more pressure. With ACs there is a low pressure cut off AND a high pressure cut off. YOu have a large amount of freon in the system, and when it gets hot outside, the pressure gets TOO high and cuts off the compressor clutch.

So just bleed off some juice and it should work ok.
