1996 Camry Intake Question

I bought an intake pipe, air filter and breather. On my camry, the intake tube that was there is ripped and i've got some people telling me that i need to replace the tube and add the intake onto that. Can't I just remove the entire old system, like the intake tube, intake box, and filter and put the new intake in place of it?

I realize I've got nowhere to put the o2 sensor, and I'll be getting the check engine light, unless theres a way to fix that.

thanks

as if right now i have no idea which tube u r talking about, but if it is a plastic host, then yeah u probably want to replace it, but if it is the intake old "pipe", then u r right, u can just use the new intake system.

seems like all you have to do is take off the old and put in the new. but the way you describe it makes it seem rather wierd.

oh, and FIY, its not the o2 sensor that goes there, its the IAT sensor.

I don't theres a place for it on my new intake, so is it okay to leave it off, or will it misgauge how much air is needed?

thanks for your help
