1994 Camry Reverse Light Question

Hey everyone,

My 1994 Camry's reverse lights seem to be acting like there's a loose connection somewhere. When I shift my car into reverse (automatic trans) the lights dont immediately come on. The lights in the back and the light in the middle of the guages come on together. I've found that if I tap the shifter back the lights come on. Otherwise if I move the car something gets bumped and the lights come on. It makes me think there's some kind of loose connection on the shifter. Does anybody know what to do about this? Thanks!

This happens to me and someone told me something about some cable, but I never really fixed it, I've gotten used to it so it doesn't bother me anymore. Can't really remember how the guy told me how to fix it.

There is a shifter position switch on teh transmission if I remember correctly. That is probably where your problem is. IF it is jsut a matter of the lights not coming on I dont think I would worry about it much.

Look on the side of the transmission and you should see an arm where the shift cable attaches. There should be some kind of switch located in the same area. You can look for loose connections or maybe oil has gotten on it etc, etc.
