Hello all,
Here is a quick run down of what is going on...
Had a check engine light for EGR. Replaced said EGR and now my '99 Camry won't run.
It will crank and die immediately. Prior to changing the EGR valve it was running.
My best guess is something to do with the compression system.
If I disconnect the PCV valve from the intake manifold it idles high and rough ramping up and down between 1300 and 1500 rpm. Unfortunately upon removing the hose I snapped the PCV valve clean off and after working all day on her I decided it was time to take a break and get back at it tomorrow.
I have searched for some sort of answer to my delimma but to no avail. If I overlooked something here please point me in the right direction.
If I get i it fixed I'll post the solution. Thank you for any help!
OP, unless I've "overlooked something", you still gots a broken pcv valve stem with nowhere to hook the vacuum hose to. is that correct? if so, then the obvious 1st step is to put in a new pcv valve I'd think.

Yes, and then try to put your old EGR valve back in and see if it will stay running. If so, you may have a faulty new EGR valve (not likely though). The problem started when you replaced the EGR valve, so that makes me think you should look at that.
did you hook the maf back up? did you put back ALL of the vacuum lines?
might be time to run a scotty kilmer smoke test and see where you're getting the unmetered air from.
did you clear the codes, and then do you still have cel(s)? what are they?
tony
I will run a smoke test today, forgot all about that. I've triple checked the vacuum diagram and everything is hooked up accordingly.
I'll keep you guys posted

FIXED! The only effin hose I didn't check... MAP sensor. Got to checking for leaks and thought I heard the throttle body leaking and bumbed the MAP sensor hose and psssshhhhhhh. Replaced it and it idles perfectly. BTW to get it to idle somewhat normally I had to disconnect the throttle opener. Purring at 600 now. Thanks everyone for your help!
