TRP Gen3 Rear Disc Brake Upgrade Kit.... Let's Get Serious
Ok guys its time to have some serious discussions about a Gen 3 TRP Rear Disc Brake Upgrade Kit.
There are two options on how we can move forward with this project.
Providing a kit with all new parts. I would suggest you go online real quick and quickly price how much a new hub, wheel bearing, caliper, caliper bracket, pads, shoes, backing plate & rotor would cost;, multiply that by two and add a few more dollars for misc. parts. Your cost should be lower than the retail prices you see as long as there are a few buyers and that way TRP can do some bulk purchasing.
Providing a kit with a mix of new & used parts that is cleaned up and included rebuilt calipers (i.e. new piston and seals), new brake lines, brake cables, shoes, pads & rotors. Within this option there would be the option to have the new components be stock replacement or performance (i.e. Powdercoated calipers with Hawk pads, D/S rotors, Stainless Steel brake lines)
Lets please keep this thread to serious posts, questions, comments & concerns.
what about a kit offering x drilled and slotted rotors/calipers/lines/ hardware for all 4 wheels? Kind of a far jump from the topic but that would be bad ass...

on the kit with new and used parts, even if they are rebuilt/reconditioned, how much reliability can be obtained? of course it would cost less but would it still be as effective and reliable as a brand new set?

Working on setting up the right accounts with the corresponding companies to offer such a kit. Do expect that in the near future though.

I would include new wheel bearings in that kit so the kit should be very reliable seeing as how the pads would be new, the brake lines would be new, the brake cables would be new, as well as the shoes & rotors and finally reconditioned calipers. Really the two parts that would stay untouched except for a thorough cleaning would be the backing plate and the hub.
Assuming it comes with instructions I would be in. would there be any plans for something to convert the front to v6 brakes with larger rotors? or just for a drum to disk at this time?
especially if this is during the summer, I would support you guys again in your venture and would still buy a CAI as well
redline i'd back you guys on any quality part you made for the 1mz or gen 3 camry, but like zoni said in another post, except with a little bit of whip cream and cherry's on top, most of the people on this forum with stock camry's who WANT to do shit to them, dont have the balls, knowledge, or money to do it and 90 percent of the time, the "Ya im interested!" Is just to keep them occupied for 3 or 4 minutes until the next person posts. the toyota camry is one of the most popular cars in the world, and the 5sfe is one of the most popular engines that comes in a camry, yet only 4 people on this site of 50,000 have bought TRP's intake? 150 bucks for a short ram intake is nothing. People just need to get real and pull their heads out of their asses when it comes to performance parts.... Im real about upgrading my breaking system, is there anyone else?

Is there any way for you to pic and chose what you want, among the setups offered? Depending on the amt of orders you could keep a stock of used/oem/performance rotors for example. I am thinking few ppl will want the used parts. I would differentiate between "Regular" and "Performance rotors". Regular would be like non drilled/slotted, and maybe cheaper pads. while the reformance would be top of the line stuff.
I want it but am tight on funds, when you guys get a concensus on how you want the kit setup and a general price range i'll let you know whether i am in for sure or not. I would love to throw in now, but i am moving and just had bodywork done, and i am about to replace the shattered window from the break in today.

I would suggest that you guys sell the kit with rebuilt calipers rather than brand new ones to help keep the costs down. There is no reason a rebuilt caliper would be any less reliable than a brand new one.
I would also say to leave the brake pads up to the customer, that way everyone can use whatever they want, and itll make the kit seem cheaper. Maybe just offer the brake pad upgrades if you guys can actually get them for cheap, otherwise I would say not to include them.
Props to TRP for trying to offer the Camry community some options!
but by the same token, try and offer something that can work to both the 4banger and the v6 community at once for more interest....i.e...this is only an upgrade for 4bangers
