2000 camry blower motor resistor

Hi guys/gals,
I am in front of a freind's 2000 camry le. the blower only works at the highest setting. After searching a little, I suspect it's the blower motor resistor. I don't know where it is. See the pic I just took. I know which one is blower motor. Could somebody tell me which one is the resistor?

take the one on the lower left out... 2 screws if I remember correctly.. I was at a junkyard one time getting a blower motor for my 99... I'm pretty sure that that is what it is...

Thank you guys. will get it fixed tonight.

This time I am really confused. See the detached thing. there is no resistors. is this the right thing?

I took some more pics. Anybody can confirm this is the blower motor resistor?

Toyota really screwed that one up. Why they would put an electrical device at the bottom of the blower box, without some kind of moisture proofing is beyond me. Get yourself some dielectric grease (Dow and Corning DC4) and coat all the metal, inside and out.

That's the part.

I thought Toyota fixed this problem by now, but I guess not.

So far, I had to replace that blower resistor on every Toyota I've owned: '79 Celica, '80 Celica, '88 Camry. I guess it's just a matter of time before I replace it on my 2000.

That should be the resistor. If you are not certain, take it to the Toyota dealer with you and compare it to the new part. I don't think that part is available aftermarket, but I could be wrong. You may want to call around to a few stores like Autozone and ask if it's available.

as far as I know, for the Gen2s, the resistive coils were also cooled by the blower motor so were unlikely to burn out but they were prone to moisture damage... I still think the Gen2 design is leaps and bounds better since I didn't need to replace the coil until 10years into ownership... My Gen4's resisters been like this for 2 years...

I'm confused about where the blower motor is located i.e. which panel do I remove to access it? The factory manual says to remove the glove box but nobody is saying anything about that here.

Is the picture taken from the passenger foot area looking toward the driver's door, or is it looking toward the front of the car?

The big black cylinder shaped thing in the center of the picture is the blower motor.

You remove the panel under the passenger side of the dash.

The picture is taken from the passenger seat floorboard area and looking up and toward the front of the car.
