Tire size on a 1996 Camry

I have a DX with 14 inch stock Rims. Current tire size is 195/70R14

I know the wheel wells are designed for 15 wheels and a much bigger tire (i.e. V6 models)

The shop is not allowing me to get bigger than the size mentioned above but I am arguing with him that I should be able to get a bigger size tire if the wheel well is designed for a bigger tire...

Any of all y'all have a bigger tire on your 14 inches?

The recommeneded for 14s is 195/14/70. Why do you want to go bigger?

if you want a larger tire, you need a larger rim. unless you dont mind your wheels looking like they were stolen from a 4x4 vehicle.

I just think bigger tires look nice. I want to keep the original rims that manufacturer put on. I don't want to do something outrageous either. All I need to know if I go up one more level as far as width and height is concerned, would it cause big problems...

Thanks for your input.
