3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
No comparison! From a standstill, you'd get ROASTED! If the person can drive an AWD car, don't even bother trying. If your Cam is standard, you could have a try but only on the go otherwise, forget it. If the All Trac is modified, get used to seeing the tail lights.
I had a 90 alltrac turbo. There'd be no contest. Weight transfer off the line would kill the Camry. To 90-100mph or so the Celica would have an edge with its gearing but 5th in the Celi is like 4th in the Cam. Past that the Cam could mantain a higher speed where as the Celi would be screamin for a 6th gear.
My Vette's the same way. A blast to 180mph is no prob in 4th but cruzin in 4th is at 70 and I can hold steady at 100-110 barely at redline

and on that sc3 site someone posted 15.3 with a 3vzfe 5speed which is faster then the all trac on the url above.
Yup, Like I said. People assume the all-trac is fast but in reality it's just adequate(lot more potential though). 0 to 60 times are very close for both cars. The AWD will give it the edge on the launch but then the Camry will start to catch up and at the top of 2nd gear they should be about even. Camry might even pul on it if racing on the freeway.
