3rd Generation 93 Camry Wonm't start

Alright, on my way to work this morning, my 5 speeed 93 5SFE jerked shifting into second and then died going into third. It may have possibly been fuel starved but after putting some gas into it, it still won't start. It cranks fine but just won't start. Any ideas guys?

That was one of my first thoughts, but I had it replaced last year. I haven't had a chance to check it yet though either. It's first on my list.

We tried shooting starting fluid into the throttle body and it didn't fire, so I'm leaning toward timing belt even more now. Won't know until tomorrow until our mechanic here at the shop can take a look at it (can't really pull the valve cover here at work).

Are you getting spark? Since the belt is relatively new, I'd look first at the distributor and especially the coil then look at the ignitor.
FWIW
YMMV

I looked and the belt is 2 years and 33k miles old, but I didn't change the water pump, so that may have done it in prematurely...

^ The water pump wouldn't cause the engine not to start.

An easy check for a broken timing belt, is to remove the distributor cap (3 bolts) and crank the engine. The rotor should spin.

You need 3 things for combustion. Fuel, spark, and compression.

Not sure but isn't the water pump driven by the timing belt?

^ Yes.

I could see if the water pump was seized and stripped all the teeth on the belt. Then the belt would just be slipping.

But I've never seen a timing belt with all the teeth stripped off.

Most of the time they just snap and/or get shreaded into pieces.

Personally it sounds like ignition to me but a timing belt is always a possiblity. Hopefull the ole fat_bastard will post back once he gets it fixed!

Attach timing light to the engine.
Press the trigger switch in, crank the engine, and see if light is flashing. If so, inspect fuel delivery/injection. If not, check distributor/connections/igniter. Try to pull the trouble codes.
