4th Generation How efficient is the traction control on Gen 4 camry?

How efficient is the traction control on Gen 4 camry? I just got the 2000 camry, and winter has just been past, so I don't have a chance to test it.

I have the same question but for camry in general and the 07 Camry. Is the VSC/TRAC really worth it? And I dont mean the financial aspect. I just can't seem to find any in stock in the NJ area. Also I read some people experiencing a lag while accelerating due to the VSC/TRAC.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by efficient? traction control just works along with your existing brakes. So whenever the trac system detects your front tires slipping while accelerating, the brakes will be applied automatically to control wheelspin.

For me, it gets in the way at times... like when I want to merge into traffic from a standstill, i give it about 70% throttle and traction control kicks in b/c there the tires start to spin a bit.

It does what it's supposed to do... and works well for slippery conditions to help with traction when accelerating.

what i meant was is it a 'must have' safety feature like ABS and side airbags or does it cause more annoyance than good like you mentioned.

Options are always nice to have. For my 2001 Camry, the trac can be turned off... so if I know i'm gona be gunning it, I usually turn it off.

It works like it should in the winter time. Perfect for controlling tirespin when getting out of snow and such.

Im sorry but its not the brakes that get applied, its more like a engine deceleration. I had it on my Solara, my 350Z, and it is nice in the rain, but it sucks when you wanna do burn outs, I always drove with it off.

If the car has traction control, there will be TRAC OFF button. I have one on mine.
