94 5sfe KNOCKING, WEIRD PROBLEM

94 5sfe KNOCKING, WEIRD PROBLEM
213K miles.

search teh site and some ppl had the exact problem like mine, well very close. heres the link

recently, i had pull out the engine to repair leaks, bunch of it. although the vehicle had 200k+ miles b4 pullin the engine out, it was running really smooth w/ ~23mpg, but craps just leakin everywhere.

long story short, i put the engine back together and fired it up(took awhile to turn over) and theres a terrible loud knock at idle, but no knocking when rpm 2500+.

btw, this is the second time ive pulled a similar 5sfe, and things went well.

lmk if yall know anyhting like this.

Mine sounded a lot like yours when I got it... slight knock at idle, but pretty much disappeared when I accelerated. In my case, it was a precursor to a spun rod bearing. If you've got it out of the car, i'd check the bearings. If you had easy access with it in the car, you could still check the bearings, i guess.

timing is dead on. if it wasnt, id not be able to drive. the performance is the same, except for the loud noise at idle.

i might have to pull the engine out again in several day.

have anyone try checkin the bearing w/o pullin the engine out?
im thinkin of takin off the oil and balancers to check. anyway to replace it this way?

id hate to pull it out again.

lmk what yall guys think.

i had a smiliar noise problem at idle and it goes away when driving but everybody thought it was the bearings or so but it was really the water pump so i replaced the pump and the timing belt too and the noise went away so check that out.

Question

Profuse,

Any luck finding the source of the noise?

My car has a similar problem and I am in need of inspiration.
