Wheel sizes for 1999 Gen 4

I'm looking to get rid of OEM steel wheels and purchase forged or pressure cast wheels. I looked through the off sets thread and already knew that I should stay with +40 offset. But my father is afraid I'm going to ruin the car by buying wheels that will be too large to turn with out rubbing in the wells and damaging the body and or the suspension and or the wheels themselves.

I'm not looking to try and cram a 26 in there or something the biggest I think I could stand to go is the TRD 18X7.5's cast by BBS. I'm mostly looking at Konig and Enkei 15's 16's and a few 17's. There is one forged wheel that I particularly like by Montegi, the Tracklite style. 17X7 and weighs in at only 14.4 pounds. I like the diameter and open design with solid forge construction and light weight to improve handling by keeping low unsprung weight at each corner.

Regardless my father thinks that anything other than the OEM 14 inch wheel size will do horrible things to the car. So those of you with aftermarket wheels please post up picks and or vid if you have it of the wheels turning with the after markets to prove that no, plus size wheels do not damage the car. Thanks in advance and I'll post up picks as soon as I get the wheels on the car.

I have 18x7.5 Konig Unknown with a 45 mm offset with a 225/40 18 Yokohama Avid H4. I'm thinking of selling them at the end of the season (1st season) because I'm thinking of going back to stock. 60,000 mile warranty on tires, lifetime rotation and balancing and lifetime road hazard warranty through Tire Kingdom/Merchant's Tire and Auto/NTB. $1200. ps. keep your 14" for winter time

Nice!! I'm looking at getting those exact wheels. They held up well and all?? And no rubbing bumping or anything?? Full turning and all that? Also if you have a suspension mod post up about that too just for clarification on things. Does the larger wheels make a noticable differance in braking ability and steering handling and such? Thanks every one.

I have 16X7 Fondmetal wheels with 42mm offset and 205/60R16 tires.

No problems. Car handles better too.

With this wheel/tire combination, the tire comes right up to the edge of the wheelwell (for the front).

It looks good, but I can't install a tire that's even one size wider without the tire sticking out.

Do keep your stock wheels for winter.
