Seafoam Experience & Results

Well, as some may now I just bought this car not too long ago and not knowing how the other owner treated it, although it was in very good condition, or maybe it is me just being anal about some things. I decided to do some regular maintenance to the vehicle so I would know these are done. Before changing the plugs since I hear seafoam can damage them I decided to do this first.

I did all three ways of adding Seafoam, gas on a full tank, in the crankcase, and then through the brakebooster vacuum line. I wasn't sure if I would get any results and was timid to try it at first but it turned out to be really easy, although the neighbors thought I didn't know what I was doing.

Before I did this I check the mileage and MPG from my last tank to see if it improves drastically or at all. After doing the seafoam and driving the vehicle I can greater feel the difference, better throttle response, smoother idle, and smoother rpm range, along with a tad more power that I seemed to have lost. The car really seems to run better and smoother very happy with the results. I will change the oil in another 500 miles and then again at 1500 miles which is where I will change the plugs and wires most likely. I will also replace some other minor things and flush and service the Transmission and radiator.

Anyways, more to come later. Just thought I would share my experience.

I did this a few weeks ago and had the same results, worth every penny of that huge 5 bucks >.>

I didnt change my plugs thou and I think I will change my oil in about a month. Was fun though, did it in my drive with a friend and after a while of just letting it idle we thought it was done so we took it out for a drive and it let of tons of smoke, people started honking and slowing down so I just gunned it harder. Great results and pretty fun too

Seafoam rocks! I used it through my brake booster line and crankcase. I also felt better throttle response and better idling. Just remember if you're using it through any of the engine's vacuum, do not suck all the liquid at once or hydro-locking may occur. But anyways, great product!

LOL, I used a bottle of top end cleaner the other day which I would expect is similar to Seafoam but wasn't aware of hydrolocking. It sucked up about 750ml in a few seconds so I turned the engine off and left it for 2 hours to soak in. The results are pretty spectacular and the car dissapeared in the smoke. looking back, probably shouldn't have done it right next to an RTA office

Seafoam is generally an excellent product. I used the can stuff and also the deep creep spray makes a great cleaner and general lube, i use it for door hinges etc. and most everything else that moves, And it seems to work ok, and another thing about it that is very important for the lady in the passenger seat, doesnt stink. (Huge clue - the female would rather have a squeaky door hinge than smell chemicals in the car, so long as it works when they turn the key they wont give it a single thought, until it breaks.)

Anyways, sea foam is great but probably unecessary to put through the vacuum hoses. Modern engines, provided they are in decent shape, not running rich or burning oil, run hot enough to burn away most of the carbon from the piston tops and valves. Anything it accomplishes you can do by just cleaning the TBI and butterfly. And again, deep creep is great for this.
I wanted to try cleaning the plenum on my V6 (bundle of snakes lookin thing) but not enough to tear everything apart for no reason. So i got a plastic drain cleaner snake with flex handle from harbor freight for $5, opened the butterfly and just went to town for about 10 minutes with the deep creep, and i also wrapped some shotgun cleaning patches around the brush for good measure. And seemed to clean it up fine.

oh dont forget to take off your intake hose and clean out your throttle body's butterfly valve.

it helps to clean out the carbon/gunk/etc that can build up there.

Did everyone get drastic improvements? My idle engine sounds a tad bit better. Other than that, i didn't see the marked dramatic improvements as you all stated. Does it mean my car's in tip-top shape? (yes did all three 1/3 bottles).

on the flip side, on my lawn mower..it made a world of difference. My 7 year old mower starts on the first attempt, (which it hasn't in past 5 years).

How many miles did yours have? I just did this since I was unsure how the people before took care of it, it did make a dramatic difference to me, well I could atleast tell the difference in idle and being a lot smoother and some gained loss power.

Only thing I did notice since this process is at start up my engine revs up until it gets warm then settles back down, at 2k rpms or so. I made just need to disconnect the battery and res et the computer, or maybe its my temp sensor. Who knows?

I ran it through my Camry a few months ago. Car runs and idles a bit smoother now. Other people probably get better results than me since I don't mind revving engine to 3-4k to get up to speed. Either way, it's very unlikely that it could hurt your car unless you used like 10 bottles of it.

Everybody loves seafoam... Back in the day when I used to work at Jiffy Lube we'd perform these treatments for $60 bucks.

Nowadays, every body who puts seafoam in their engines love it and do it religiously. Seafoam has spread like a disease.

I always notice that it make cars quieter.
