01 a/c wet carpet not rubber tube drain. help

Ok, i have a 01 camry ce 4cyl. carpet soaked. no rain. looked at forums and all said to check the drain hose under car. rubber hose is clear. guy at parts store said probably heater core, so i bypassed it. water still leaking out around the fuzzy seal of h core and elswhere. when i turn car either direction, ac makes hissing sound like water trying to blow out the vents. when i turn the dial for hot/cold, sounds like im turning over a cup of water.

i am pulling up entire carpet for a few days in order to dry out and clean the mildew. any idea of what i can do to stop the leaking of my ac? or where to start?

sounds like you'll have to use the ultraviolet dye to find out exactly where the leak is coming from. you can pick up a kit from your local automotive supplies store and it will come with glasses and a light to look for the dye.

the only problem is that this is presuming you still have any freon left in your a/c system to circulate.

the bad news is that it seems that hte leak is pretty big if it's creating so much condensation, so any leak stop product won't work, even the good stuff and the leaking parts will probably have to be replaced

ok, carpet removed and drying out. removed the rubber tube from ac drain and poked inside wiht a coffee stirrer, must have been a dirt daubers nest, bout a gallon of water came out. reattached the rubber tube and cranked the car. dripping fine underneath car now, but still have some dripping coming from around the fuzzy seal of the heater core, which is disconected from the radiator. I unscrewed and pulled heater core out about 3inches, just enough to see the fins of the core and cranked the car with ac on. still dripped. i changed it over to heat and it blew out lots of water, and didnt stop. when i put back on cold, went back to steady drip. is my heater core bad, or is there probably more water along the lines that will take a while to drain out? would really like to know befor i put back in carpet.

The water from the AC is evaporated, regular water. The heater core should be radiator water and if you're running coolant you can see/smell the difference. Could be you just have a lot of built up water from the tube not draining. If the core is disconnected then my guess this is the case. Try soaking up as much as possible with an old towel or something. If you use something white then you can also check for the color. No color OK, if it's colored like your antifreeze, look at the heater core. (But with it disconnected, I dobt that's the problem)

i was thinking that it was just more water that had backed up, but im leary of reconnecting the core back to the radiator, seeing as water is leaking around the fuzzy looking seal. i would have thought that it would have been a rubber seal around the metal core seeing as hot water flows in it.

excuse me, just remembered that the radiator fluid doesnt actually come out of the core. maybe the best way for me to remove that water would be to hook it back up, and ride with the heater on. thus evaporating the liquid before it drips back down to the floor. i would pull it all the way out to get what water i could out, but i seem to not beable to get it out more that a couple inches. what is the proper way to remove a heater core?
