Weird AC Problem possible bad AC Switch?

Well although its the end of the summer, I seem to have a weird problem with my AC. Im not sure if it just needs freon or if its a larger problem. THe AC blows only warm air. However, the AC switch does not seem to work either. If I push it in, it does light green and i would usually be able to hear the AC compressor kick in. Could the AC Switch cause this problem or does it just need freon? Thanx in advance guys.

If the Freon were too low, the A/C pressure switch would prevent the compressor from kicking in when the console switch was engaged. It could be the Freon is just low. There may be a sight glass near the A/C dryer. This is viewing port allowing you to see the Freon circulate. Start the A/C; look for bubbles in the fluid as it circulates (compressor on). If yes, the Freon may be low. PS: there will always be bubbles forming in the Freon when the A/C (compressor) has just turned off. Might also be the evaporator temp switch.

I have posted a similar issue to this for my 07 Camry SE, in the Gen 5 & 6 Subforum. Do you recall hearing of this issue for the 07 Camry's??? Thanks!!!

My 2000 Camry did this last year, and I had to put 2 cans of Freon in it. By the way, my 2000 Camry does have the sight glass. My co-worker has a 95 Camry and his does not have the sight glass, but also needed some refrigerant.

The sightglass is on the very front of the car in front of the radiator and just behind the bumper.

If you need to charge it, it is on the low side, which is right up next to the passenger side near the firewall.

It's not the switch. As was said already, the compressor will not switch on if Freeon levels are too low.

Buy some cans of Freeon (R134A) + Oil + Leak Sealer at walmart. The big ones should come with a gauge, which you can swap. Buy 1 big one and 3 small ones, that should be enough to get enough in to be in the "normal" range.

Just keep in mind that adding Freeon does not gaurantee it will work. If you have a large leak all that Freeon will escape again and you just lost 40 or more dollars.
