1999 camry LE power windows, speedo, tach and temp guage fuse blowing

Hi, I have a 99 Camry V6 LE and it keeps blowing the 10amp fuse marked "guage" in the fuse panel behind change drawer below left side of steering wheel.

The tach, speedo, temp gauges go dead and the power windows don't work. I replaced the fuse and when I used the driver side power switch it blew again. So I decided not to use the power window switch and it was fine....until I drove at nite with lights on. It blew again just driving and I replaced the fuse and then it blew again in ~ 5-10 minutes.

Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks,
Ed

You have an electrical short somewhere on the circuits connected to that fuse. Don't be tempted to put a higher amp fuse or a jumper in there - that's just asking for trouble.

Thanks, but I knew about the short somewhere and would like to know how to diagnose where it is. Don't like driving around w/o temp gauge or feel like spending $$ by just starting to replace parts (master switch, window motor....)

Can anyone suggest a way to determine where the short is?

Thanks,
Ed

Yea

Get a Meter and and good wireing diagrams and start checking. this should only take about 3 to 4 hours if you do it right. plus you will have to take your dash apart and check the wires for any cut. rats have been knowen to chew on them!
