4th Generation Do you need to flush the coolant during the water pump change?

I'm going to change the timing belt along with the water pump at the dealer, so I'm wondering should I also have the coolant flushed and put in new coolant? I did the coolant flush not long ago, so the coolant is pretty new.

But if they need to drain the coolant in order to change the water pump, I wouldn't want them to put it back, so I'll want to tell tem to put in new coolant before the service.

Thanks.

they'll put in new coolant you wont have to worry about that. doing a flush is a good idea though. it'll remove a lot of crap from the radiator at the very least. it'll only help.

Newracer generally id say yes but in your situtation id say no. Because you are paying them extra money for this, a lot of it. And if it were mine car, id say just let them replace the coolant with new, which they will anyway, and just forgo the flushing part this time.
And do the flush yourself next time and then it only cost you $10 for some coolant and not the $50 or 60 they are gonna stick it to you for. .

What do you mean? Don't you need to flush the old coolant out first, in order to put in the new coolant? I mean, when they are changing the water pump, are they going to drain the old coolant out first?

^ not all of it, that's why, so they'll only replace what is needed instead of flushing the entire system, which will take a lot of time and cost you at the shop

So, that means they will drain some of the coolant, but not all of it. Then they top off the coolant tank with new coolant. Correct?

Yes the first thing the mechanic will do when when changing the water pump is drain the old coolant! As in he will open the drain plug and drain it out and throw away the old stuff. And then when he put it all back together he will add coolant and water and the coolant should be new. And stuff.
