3rd Generation Tranny fluid question.

Is it okay to use Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF in my '95 Toyota Camry(Auto transmission). I plan to change the fluid in my car but I am unsure if the synthetic fluid will be compatible.

I heard that you do not need to buy a new transmission filter. You can just wash it off with new tranny fluid. Is this true?

Also, will I need a new gasket when changing my transmission fluid?

If the suggested fluid for your car is Dexron III, you can use Mobil Synthetic ATF. It states on the back that it is compatible with DexIII.

The transmission screen just needs to be rinsed with clean fluid.

My manual states that it takes DEXRON II. Is it still okay to use synthetic fluid or do I have to stick with the conventional type? Thanks.

I believe that Dexron III replaces Dexron II

Correct. Dexron III has superseded Dexron II and is fully backwards compatible.
