3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Ok, as you all know, there aren't too many modded Camry's out there, so it's really hard to come across any with the slightest of mods. Well, I was on my way to Navarre Beach and came to a stop on a redlight. I looked across the intersection onto the oncoming traffic side and what did I see stopped there?? A Camry, with a body kit, shaved door, chrome rims, AND it was the SAME color as my car just without the pearl. Now I sit here thinking, either this guy has been on this site and has seen my car and copy catted it, or it was sheer badluck that his car happens to look like mine. As unbelievable as it is, I'm glad I'll be turboing my car to get rid of any competetion out here. I sigh in much disappointment
I'm sorry...but when I read these threads, I always wonder about the mentality of people who mod their cars.
I know that everybody wants to have a unique car....but unless you have a VERY custo paint job that isn't even close to a stock color, somebody else will always have a similar car. as well, with the popularity of modifying cars these days, tons of people slap on a set of rims and some- a body kit.
I don't know about that other car that you saw, but how do you know that he didn't even do all that before even you started modifying your car?
it's bound to happen, so there's no reason to complain about it. just hope that you car looks better than his and leave it at that.

Yeah, but Camry's aren't modded like Civics are. I've seen atleast 10 look-a-like black Civics in town. I could understand someone with the same color a state or two over, but being in the next town over? dammit...
Anyway, how I know I am the one of 4 modified (not just rims) Camry's in this area is because I know shop owners of import places all around here. They always give me the word when I show up with my car
atleast you arent one of those civics... even if you were, just build your car to what you think is tight... if someone else does it, its a bummer but big deal... your car is perfect to you, thats what matters
Something like that happened to me, but I'm not that worried...
Camry's are not common AT ALL in my country... I might own the most moddified Camry in my country...
Since the first time I saw the TRD Body Kit for the 97-99 Camry on this forum, I wanted it.. Some day, I saw a white Camry with the body kit on... I was SSOOO pissed... BUT, here comes the good part, that Camry is an I-4, mine is a V6, he has 16" rims, I have 17's, he's not lowered, I am.... And the list of things I have and he doesn't continues.... His car is white, mine is Classic Green Pearl...
AND, THE BEST PART, I'm getting my TRD body kit this week....
So I'm basically gonna be the owner of the best Camry in my country...
Haha. I thought I painted my car a Unique color when i went metallic blue. Then I find out that there's already at least 2 that I know of that were that color long before I ever touched my car. I t happens. I just hope the others with close to my color know I wasn't trying to steel their style.
