3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
While at the dealership the other day I inquired about spray cans to touch up some paint issues on my camry. The counter man said that all they sell is the touch up with brushes, but then told me that duplicolor has exact matches in spray cans, so I went down to advanced auto and whaddya know, duplicolor spray cans of emerald green metallic!!! They make other toyota colors as well. The dealership told me duplicolor makes the paint for toyota.
Wtf, I asked EVERYWHERE about that same thing here before (when I had a different bumper and was multi-colored) and no one ever heard of such a thing. Well now I know. Thanks
That's good to know for anyone that doesn't have a paint gun & a compressor that wants to repaint a bodypanel. For touch-ups.

I have found the colors tend not to match - duplicolor is pretty much the only brand around but like i sad ive found its either too dark or too light even when you match the paint code....and this has happened on more than one car. maybe it is just the nature of paint somehow or i am just a tard, but ive never retouched a car well enough to make it match.

The 2 probable reasons are faded paint, from just normal age and ware, and clearcoat needs to be wetsanded to match. I know what you mean though.

Thanks for the info! I got my paint mixed at NAPA last time i did work. They did a great job. I asked people to point out where i touched it up, and everyone pointed to random parts of the car. Not one to the place where i actually touched up. So, if the duplicolor isn't working for you NAPA does a great job.
