Has anyone resolved any issues with the Trunk Tail Lights not functioning? The Dash shows the rear light bulb out indicator when the headlights are on. The Brake Lights on the Trunk function OK / the tail light part of the bulbs do not light up. I have tried new bulbs and this has not resolved the issue. The outer tail lights (on left and right side of care) function OK it's just the inner tail lights on the trunk that are having a problem. Is there a fuse that would just control the trunk tail lights portion? All other lights on the car are functioning properly.
are you using the right bulbs? the bulbs for brakes/headlights (on) have two filaments....and two connections on the bottom...getting the wrong bulbs would prob cause the system to only use the light for brakes, not headlights on. make sure your bulbs have two connectors on the bottom.
if thats not the case...did you remember putting anything big in the trunk recently? maybe crushing or cutting a cable?

Thanks for your reply. I am using the 3157 Bulbs which have the dual filaments. I have also checked the wiring to see if there are any cut wires and there are none that I can see. I thought maybe there might be a relay or fuse that might be tied to the trunk tail lights. Any other ideas? Thanks.
Assuming everything checks out right (bulbs, fuse, etc.), check the wires inside the flex conduit cover running along side of the trunk hinge. I was having the same problem like yours and taillight indicator would come on and off until one day it just stayed on. Seems like the wires inside the conduit cover breaks from the constant opening and closing of the trunk.
Get some wire connector crimps (smallest ones), electrical tape and a sharp knife. Opening the cover, see if there are any wires that's broken into 2. Connect the wires using the connector crimps and it should be fine. Just wrap everything up and cover the flex conduit cover again with tape when you're done.
I guess the wire becomes brittle as it ages and the flexing of the trunk hinge doesn't help its condition. Hope this helps.

all my tails, basically at night only my turn signals worked
Ok thanks. I am having an issue where the outer tail lights work but the ones on the trunk lid do not. I suspect the relay would probably cause all of them to be out and not just half of them.

Thanks kamrhee, I was having the same issue with a 1999 Camry - found the broken wire and had it fixed in 5 minutes. Danny
