3rd Generation Waterpump: coolant leak?

Hi, I've a gen3 with 400.000 kms. I've seen a little coolant leak in the waterpump, there's a little hole visible on the front of the waterpump, near the alternator adjustable bar. I think that it's communicates with the bearing... In your opinion, does the gasket/bearing are out of order? I'd better to change it or is there another explication? Thanks.

PS: excuse my language, I'm french.

Coolant out of the waterpump weep hole means the shaft seal is leaking. That usually means bad bearing.

Change it before it craps on your way to work. Every water pump that faled on me completely has done it when I was going to work, so trust me on that one.

When you replace the water pump. Change the Timing Belt at the same time. They are recommended to be changed together.

When did you last have the water pump changed?

I never change the waterpump, and it has 400.000 kms now. I'll do the timing belt and the waterpump soon, in a few weeks. The leak is very very tiny, I don't see anything on the coolant level in the radiator or in the expansion vase.

Watch it very closely though, to make sure it does not get worse. Also, if you have a V6, also change the Tensioner and the Crank Seals. Those are cheap, so while it's opened, you may as well do it. This is not a cheap job on the V6's though. May be around 500 Euro's. the I4 is cheaper to do. Just make sure you get a good mechanic. And I'd recommend to use OEM Toyota parts for this. Especially the timing belt.
