here is a question i've had for some time.... Sometime back i purchased KYB struts for my 1992 Camry (V6 XLE, auto, J vin#..) to replace the cracked oem ones. The mech told my family that there is no way they will fit my car. so therefore we ended up putting on ones he recomended. I apparently still have the KYB GR-2sin dad's garage. Here are the model numbers. My parents dont speak english well but they try. they work real hard for their money. did Mech rip my family off??KYB GR-2 92-94

The post october sealed struts to directly swap in for serviceable struts provided you put new strut mounts on. Which... You have to do anyway because who puts $300 worth of struts on destroyed mounts.

Yup. The Non-Serviceable Struts and the Seviceable Struts are interchangeable between the cars, provided you use the correct mount with each. But many mechanics do not know cars well enough to know that.

Yeah can't really fault mechanics. They're not going to log onto TN just to ask a question. Tho I have been asked in private by 2-3 Lexus dealers on the Lexus forums how to deal with the most random crap ever LoL! The best was when they were just "playing" with an ES 250 this one time & let the AFM cog spin way out. That was crazy. Them damned dealer techs! The service manager was pissed when I finally figured out what the problem was LoL!
