After Seafoam and Throttle Body Cleaning

Well, after thinking about it for awhile, I decided to seafoam the car yesterday.

First, I took off my short ram, and sprayed Seafoam Deep Creep into the throttle body, behind the throttle body plate, and on the plate. Sealed that part back up, and revved the crap out of the exhaust.

Then, I ran seafoam through the brake booster line, and the car almost stalled out on me at only like 3 oz, but I managed to get the whole 5 oz in there, and shut off the car, it also continued to run the engine for like 4 secs after I turned it off.

Now, I ran it out, and it smoked for a good 15 minutes while I drove pretty fast around my neighborhood. But I don't notice that much of a difference, and the smoke was pretty white.

Should (can) I do it again, and how much should I put in there?

I didn't put any in the crankcase, but I put the remainder in the gas tank.

do the same....it may not always make a noticeable difference in performance- but it usually will when it comes to emissions

don't over use seafoam. one application a year should be more than enough. besides eating out the carbon build up inside the engine, it does a job on the inner seals as well.

bear in mind, to have an effective application, use the drip method into the vacuum lines rather than having the entire bottle sucked in all at once. you'll get a deeper, more thorough application if you drip it in slowly.

Yeah, I was cautious with the dripping method, because I heard from lots of people just sucking it all in there can cause hydrolock.

Just do it once more (let it sit for 15-20 mins after it goes in)

Planning on doing it on my mom's Camry later this week. When I did it in the past on my Maxima, the smoke was a little gray the first time (second time it got whiter and then the third time it was white - I only used ~1/6 of the can each time). When the smoke is real white then its just the Seafoam burning off (no point in doing it again)

For the record, the best way I've found to suck Sea Foam into the intake is to pop a vacuum line reducer on the end of the disconnected brake booster line. Then, just dip the small end of the reducer into the Sea Foam. This keeps large slugs of Sea Foam from blasting through the brake booster line and reduces your chance of hydro-locking one or more cylinders.

i used a wurth engine cleaner bottle which hangs upside down, has a valve at the mouth and a clear hose with a small cone shaped nipple at the end.

I start the engine, remove the brake booster hose and insert the nipple and start slow dripping the seafoam in . The drip process takes about 10 minutes. The motor only shudders momentarily when i remove the brake booster hose but runs steady throughout the entire drip process.

After the bottle is emptied, i reinstall the brake booster hose and get into the driver's seat. while in park i rev the engine to 2000 , 3000, 4000. 5000, 6000, 6500 while holding the rev for 15-20 seconds at each rev then back down in the same time duration.

the smoke went on for another 15 minutes.

The immediate benefit after application was quicker throttle and rev response. I cleaned the throttle body a few minutes prior to seafoam and already noticed a difference.

Do all 3rd gen V6's all have such dirty throttle bodys?

Sorry if this is kinda stupid, but where is the vacuum line reducer. I looked all around the end of the brake booster line and couldnt find it.

I think you need to purchase one. I don't believe there is one on the booster line.

Yes, every EGR/air pump equipped, or Atkinson cycle engine on the planet will cake with carbon in the intake tract.
