No start in park, and low idle at cold start
alright... so my girlfriends car is having issues and here I am to fix it.
Take for instance this morning. I started it up ice cold and it cranked over and started;however, it idle'd at 750 rpm. I gave it a little gas to raise the idle, and it would idle a little bit higher once i let off the pedal.
So i shove it in reverse and get it out of the garage. When i put it back in park, it idles where it should when cold : 1500 rpm.
Could it be that the oil is too thick being this cold in the morning? It's got fresh 10w-30 in it so i have my reasons to think that's not the case.
Now for the next issue. I took my keys' out of the car so my girl can go to work, and it won't start. No clicking, no nothing. Everything shuts off like it's going to start, but absolutely nothing happens.
Now, i start fidgeting with a few things, and put it in neutral and it starts without hesitation. This happened twice. Does this mean it's the neutral safety switch? That seems logical IMO.
The car is a 96 camry LE 2.2L
