3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Anyone Agree With Me That "its A Camry, You Should Save Your $"
WHY TURBO OR SUPERCHARGE IT? ITS A CAMRY 2.2 L 4 CYLINDER OR 3.0 V6
ITS NOT WORTH IT
ONE GUY ON HERE IN HIS SIGNATURE IT SAYS THAT HE SPEND 7,000 DOLLARS SO FAR ON HIS TURBO INSTALLATION AND HE ISNT EVEN COMPLETE, HENCE THE SAD SMILIE FACE IN HIS SIGNATURE
ISNT THAT CRAZY?
I MEAN IF YOUR CAMRY IS YOUR ONLY CAR AND U LOVE IT COOL, DO WHATEVER U WANT TO IT
I LOVE MY 96 CAMRY LE, 4 CYLINDER WITH 127,000 MILES
BUT I WOULD NOT PUT A BODYKIT OR TURBO OR SUPERCHARGER
THATS POINTLESS TO ME.
I'M IN COLLEGE, WHEN I GRADUATE AND WORK FOR A FEW YEARS OR SO I WISH TO GET A CORVETTE C6, AND EVENTUALLY SELL IT AND GET A C6 Z06.
IF U'RE BROKE AND U'RE SPENDING MONEY TO "HOOK UP" OR "TRICK OUT" YOUR CAMRY, U ARE ONLY REMINDING ME OF CIVIC OWNERS.
ANYONE AGREE OR DISAGREE?
MY NEIGHBOR HAS A GEN 4 CAMRY WITH BODYKIT, RIMS, LOWERED, AND EVEN SKYLING REAR TAILIGHTS. LOOKS SICK, BUT STILL, ITS A CAMRY. HE COULD OF JUST BOUGHT A FASTER CAR, A TWO DOOR, WITH THE MONEY HE SPENT PLUST THE INITIAL COST OF THE CAMRY.
MOST EXPENSIVE MOD I WOULD IS PUT RIMS.
I'LL CATCH A LOT OF FLACK FOR THIS ONE RIGHT? ITS JUST MY OPINION. i love supras and 3000gts and 300zx's, get one of those instead of suping up a camry.
i got a 4 door camry, but 2 door coupe ones are cooler.
its called being unique and not buying a car that has everything setup and following a guideline for the best performance. And doing everything yourself gives you a sense of pride and accomplishment for doing something new. Take tony he has made probably the fastest camry out there, I would much rather have that then a car I buy and just go online and buy all the bolt on parts for.
I think its a great way to stand out from everyone else who hooks up supras or whatever. don't get me wrong I love supras, 240's, Z's and I'd love to try my hand at it... but its a great thing to be different. The look on someones face when you pop the hood and they see a big fat turbo in a grocery getter is priceless. Its the same look when you pop your trunk and a crowd gathers to watch a movie on your 17 inch TV mounted in the trunk
I also find that its a great learning experience, doing these things to any car.
Save money? Hey guess what, nearly everything I put in my car can be removed and put into a new car.
A lot of people take pride in the work they do their car, especially if they do the work themself and not hire a shop or someone else to do it.
Since working on my car I have learned A LOT. I can only imagine what I would do to a car like a supra or something...

If everyone had this attitude, we would still be driving model Ts. I agree with curry, why shouldn't you turbo a camry. Although I'm an import guy all the way, I have respect for domestics, and I have to admit, the idea of a rx7 with a fully built aluminum ls7 in it would rip. But if people stopped to ask why? , then there wouldn't be any improvement and for all you know, there wouldn't be a supra, gt 3000, or 300zx to go buy. I'm not flamming, I'm just throwing a point out there.
To this day..i still dont know...i love cars...i love camrys...i love spending money on them...throw girls in their somewhere too and you get your answer.
