more gas mileage, how much acetone do u add to gas. Question
Instructions:
TOYSRME SAYS TO
"Mix acetone in a 2-5oz per 10 gallons of gas ratio. You'll have to find your sweet spot (mine is 3.5 in my 3vz-fe, 4.5 oz in the '99 4.6L f150 and 3 in mom's '02 maxima) We want 100% acetone (nail polish or real, the fragrance in nail polish doesn't bother us).
16 oz of nail polish commonly sells for $2.50. 32 oz of Acetone goes for $5-6.5, One Gallon $10.
Acetone doesn't eat away any part safe for gasoline. While being readily available, and cheap enough to pay for itself.
This lexus gained roughly 2 mpg from it. The F150 went from 17mph (avg) 19mpg (best ever seen) to 20mpg (avg) 22.5 (best ever seen). Mom's maxima went from getting 27 (avg) and 30 (when i drive it on long highway trips) to 31 (avg) and 35 (long trips)
If you only get 10% on 19mpg, that's an extra 35 mile range (5 miles more than the distance between your low fuel light coming on, and your ECU shitting your engine off before the fuel runs out) A gallon of acetone will pay for itself in a tank or two. Maybe faster. (someone on a forum reported a prius going from 44/47, to 55)
I challenge everyone to give acetone at least a 16 oz bottle's worth a try! That's the cost of only one gallon of gas in a lot of places now..."
ANYONE EVER TRY IT? HOW MUCH acetone do u add to a 4 cylinder camry with 18.5 gallons of gas?
i tried gas treatment and fuel injector cleaner. but the fuel injector is not cheap.
2-5oz per 10gal, lets do that calculations together, shall we. like it says, ull have to find ur "sweet spot". so just round up to 20 gallons and add anywhere from 4 to 10oz in a full tank. id start with 4 and work ur way up. a friend did it in his Z28 and he actually got and extra 2.5 miles to the gallon. it works for me too.
adding that stuff really works? that seem a little nuts to me.. what exactly does it do tho? why more gas mile from it?

well u should read toy's cheap/free mods post to get the full scoop, but it basically makes the gas have less surface tention, burns better and distributes heat better.
more gas mileage. TOYSRME SAYS TO

and there is always gas treatment and engine restore and lucas oil and fuel injector cleaner.
Did you know that MythBusters says acetone reduces mileage? I heard that. Of course it is false. The whole purpose of asking people to buy a ScanGauge is to find out the Truth for themselves. MythBusters created a myth rather than busted one...
I've tried it. Seems to make it run a little smoother, sometimes, it could be in my mind. Didnt seem to make an aprreciable difference in milage in my car but i dont think it wil hurt anything.
The proper concentration from some old man's web site i read (he was supposedly a petroleum engineer or such like) was 1 oz. acetone per 10 gallons fuel capacity. So for a Camry with 18.5 gallon tank about 2 oz then? I carried around in the trunk a glass measuring shot glass from walmart, plus a funnel, plus a can of acetone and just added it every time i got gas. Like i said, no huge difference in mpg, if any - at least none that i could measure.
just curious, why do you guys think the mythbusters didnt get proper results? i read unco's link, and in my opinion, they really didnt know and were grasping for straws.
Dont do it. I tried it and it made little diff initially, and then nada. It will CLEAN the injectors... My Toyota frined had a dude come in with a 2006 Tacoma 4.0L blah blah blah.
Bottom line... a new engine and new fuel pump.

1994 Toyota Camry V6 XLE I LOVE it!
And the journey continues........
i added roughly 2 oz. of 100% acetone to 8 gallons of gas and drove ~200 miles, mostly highway. normally the trip takes a little less than half a tank, but this time it took about a quarter of a tank. driving behavior: on average 75 mph on cruise control, mild traffic, about 5% city driving, no sudden stops or "spirited driving."

I have used it a few times on my 01 Camry and while I never measured it I swear that I fill up less and get more range and I did not change my driving habits. And yes I did see the Myth busters shoot it down, but they are not always as thorough as they could be. Anyone else try it and are there more threads on this?
