I just received a pair of NGK spark plug wires...the cool blue ones.
But im curious as to why there's only three and not 6. I have the 1mz fe v6 engine. Know the front three plugs are different than the rear three plugs. The ones they sent me were for the rear three.
Are there simply no replacements for the front three? My car isn't damaged, they're just 10 years old so i thought i'd try something new, plus they're blue!
At any rate, i assume it's not too easy to find the front three as NGK and Denso's websites dont seem to sell anything but the three i just purchased. So would there be any harm in just changing out the rear three and leaving the front stock? Or should i find a stealership and get some there at an outrageous price tag?
Any comments/suggestions would most certainly help and are completely welcome.
thread jacking is also allowed if its on the same topic.
You only need to replace the wires if you change your spark plugs (usually every 60k miles).
If one set does include 3 wires then that's how it is. It would be good to double-check the length of the wires (front vs. rear). If they're the same lengths/gauge, respectively, then you probably need another set. Otherwise, it wouldn't hurt to give NGK a call or message.

well the length for the rears should be fine. i checked the package and it looks right.
i may shoot ngk a message just to ask if there's any issues with using their wires for the rear and keeping the factory wires for the front. i dont suspect problems. My car's plugs were just changed, thats why i wanted to go with some new wires.
I was looking at buying a NGK wire set that is $70, is the Gen3 different from the Gen4 or something? Will the ones for the Gen3 come with 6 or 3? I know people have ordered them before...
I think your 1MZ uses coil over plugs for the front bank and the rear bank uses the same coils as the front. So the front bank will not have typical high voltage spark plug wires. The wires that go from the front to the back are high voltage spark plug wires that go from the coil to the rear plugs. This would mean that you also have waste spark ignition system.
