CEL on with full tank and off with half tank of gas
The check engine light comes on when I fill the gas tank. It almost always goes off when the tank is just less than half full and stays off until I fill the tank again. I have taken it to my mechanic who gets a P0402 – EGR Excessive Flow Detected error. We are in the process of confirming that this symptom remains constant. Engine seems to run smoothly. No work done yet. I have changed the gas tank cap as I read that this can sometimes cause these types of problems. No change.
I am a little concerned to have EGR work done when the symptom seems to be coming from the gas tank. Any suggestions?
