Unhappy 1993 Stranded Need Help ASAP!

Came out to start my 2.2 L 93 Camry the other day and it turned over fine, but would not start. I've got fire, had a weak orange-red spark and after testing the coil with a multi-meter determined it was out of spec and replaced it. Now I have sweet blue-white spark, but still no start. Tested all of the spark plug wires (within spec). Jumped FP & B on the the data link, turn the key to on and I can hear fuel pumping, but can't tell the fuel pressure (no guage). Tested the ohms reading on the fuel pump (within specs). I assume no fuel is getting into the cylinders, should I try starting fluid to see if it runs? What could it be?

Help!

Try the starting fluid.
How cold is it there? It's possible the gas filter has trapped some moisture and has frozen. A hair dryer on the filter for a few minutes plus some dry gas should help if that is the case.

It's been between the teens and 40 for the past week. The car is in a garge now and has sat there for a day. I'll try the starting fluid and I think I have some methanol sitting around from my go kart.

Did you pull the spark plugs to test for spark? If you tested for spark by putting a plug wire near a ground and cranking the engine, or used a spark plug that was lying around, I would pull the plugs and either clean them or replace them. They are probably now gas fouled, since the weak (orange) spark you were getting would not fire them. Now that you have replaced the coil and are getting the proper (blue) spark, chances are the plugs are too gas fouled to fire.

i would definately check the plugs for wetness=gas covered. if so, put the plug back in, and go start it with the pedal on the floor! seriously, flooring the pedal while starting will keep the injectors off, while you start, so once it starts to run then let off the pedal...

as long as youve got spark, and wet plugs, try that, and you should be ok!

Ya try holding it to the floor, it will put the whole system into flood mode and basically shut down fuel. The timing belt SHOULD be o.k. because you have spark, but it could have jumped and thrown your timing off. Just something to look at if it isn't flooded.

even if the timing is off a bit, it should at least spit, and sputter...

Download the service manual for the link below: The manual has excellent test and diagnostic sections.

Make sure you are getting spark at the plugs. You can bypass the fuel pump system cutout relay by jumping the FP and B+ terminals in the Diagnosis box then turning the ignition on. This will allow you to check the fuel system.

Glad it's running again. Which wire was it?
