3rd Generation Weight Reduction Idea's???

So far i've...removed spare and jack, trunk floor/carpet, replaced muffler w/ a much lighter flowmaster, removed resonators/cat...any other ideas for me??? (I dug up an old thread and it said CF body parts, not interested in those bc lack of money, and removing seats and carpet, but i want my car to look semi nice so no on removing noticeable interior parts)

Go crazy? Buy a smaller car?
I mean, the Camry isn't exactly the best platform for speed.

remove the carpet from the interior and scrape off the sound deadening material underneath the carpet. it's kinda like a rubber cement and rubber mixture. saves about 16lbs in a Nissan SE-R. i'd imagine more in the camry due to larger interior volume.

i actually used to be on the message board with Mike Kojima, who works for SCC and headed up the project you see above. they cut apart their project Sentra, it was an '01. the car ran like a 14.1 @ 100 in the condition you see above. entirely stock.

yea...i saw the article a couple months back

I think I'm gonna take off my AC as well...doesn't work so why not...

on a side note, I was shocked at how much the stock muffler weighed...those things are heavy for a muffler

yeah.. stock parts are very heavy. they're meant for their function and not anything performance related. quite honestly i bet you can save a bunch of weight just eliminating or replacing the parts that people see as creature comforts. leather interior, heated seats, sound deadening, power windows, etc.

turn it into a stripper bare bones model, you'll save a decent amount of weight. but quite honestly it'll never be very quick without a substantial investment, i.e. boost.. so i dont think i'd bother modding a 2.2 to be frank. the motor is too small, IMO, and the car is too big.

just my $.02

or drop a V6 into your camry.

very nice, and fair enough. still not sure why you'd need a barn for poles though.

i had a 99 SS camaro, before i got outta the car thing.
