4th Generation 1999 Exterior door handle broke

I pulled up on the exterior driver side door handle when the car had ice on it. I wasn't attempting to pull too hard but obviously it was too hard . The handle now sticks out at an angle but thankfully I can still use it to open the door. It is just a matter of time before the last attached portion lets go and I'm in a real bind .

I've found the how to physically replace the part but, I now need to figure out which is the "best" path to go. I see these replacements (unpainted) on ebay for $7.50 plus shipping. Painted ones look to be going for around $35. If I go for the cheaper part, what are my options for getting it painted to "match" the current grey color?

Thanks!

the same thing happened to my cam a while back, i got the outer driver door handle for less than $20 including shippping on ebay (97 black color). Black might be a more common color than gray (idk), but $35 for a door handle ? What a rip-off imo

you should get the prepainted one or u might spend more getting someone else to paint it and a pint of paint and the cost to painted culd be 35$ or greater by itself. another way is to get a used one the same color try a junkyard or search ebay for one

its not soo much the aspect of having to pay someone to paint it the big problem is disassembly its dam near impossible to take the exterior door handles apart to paint them then put it all back together with the springs and what not i personally bought the cheap one first then ended up having to by a painted one. Maybe i installed the painted door handle in correctly but even that one doesnt really sit as flush as the stock did and make sure to save the white clip that attachs the lock rod to the handle the clip i got with the new door handle kept falling off after it was installed a real pain in the ass to say the least
