3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I know it will work with my car, but basically I want to know if its something that you cna leave permanently hooked up to the dashboard OBDII port, and also if its a good deal for a device like that.
I know, it's only $169, which isnt really that much.
I mean, i'd love to find my mpg at different times, the engine load, fuel rate, battery, and being able to clear CEL's.
Can someone just confirm that this will work with the 94 Camry V6? It says it does on the site, I just want to make sure
And am I seeing it right that it will tell you how many miles you have left on the gas in your tank?
And I didnt find any on ebay unfortunetly, and it doesnt look like autozone carries them, so I need to wait for it to be shipped
As long as the thing you're hooking up is obd2 complient and not made specifically for another car, you should be fine. The part that sucks is that most cars made before 1994 did not come obd2 complient and I have a 93'.
Wow I just found this one too. This one seems way better. It plugs in the same way and displays most of the same stuff, but actually shows 1/4 mile times and 0-60. You can also transfer info onto your computer. I haven't found the price for it yet but I'm guessing it's much more expensive.
Yup it's definately more expensive, about $100 or more. And, more importantly, it doesn't work for our cars. Only 2004-2008 cars...Sorry to get anyones hopes up haha.

I was really excited until I found it didnt work
Oh well, the ScanGuage for $170 doesnt seem bad at all, I was thinking that it would cost upwards of $500 or so for anything that even remotely displayed engine specs.
As for the group buy, it is a bit cheaper, but i'd be worried that the guy would take my money and run.
