3rd Generation front suspen

ok now i came across this problem today.. well actually just notice this but i have been hearing the problem for a while now..

first the noise... i had replaced all 4 struts and the front 2 struts had bad coil spring seats and i think the strut mount was maybe going bad... i was cheap and this is just my spare car so i didnt want to change and spend a bunch on it..
(this is why i think its the cause of my problem)

the noise i hear sounds like the strut isnt screwed down right
when im driving and i go over a bump i hear this noise that kinda sounds like the coil / strut moving around

but today after washing my car i was cleaning the front driver tire/rim and came across something weird... i can actually move the tire/rim front to back.. i mean its on the floor (not jacked up) and the tires are pointed straight and i can move the tire (not left and right)

what can it be?????
ima jack up the car and take off the tire for a closer look but i want you guys opinion on what the problem is...

a bearing maybe? control arm?

this problem doesnt seem to be related to the strut problem
(the strut having bad coil spring seat..)
maybe a bad strut mount but it seems as if the problem is located behind the wheel/ brake

i had checked my other front pass. tire not it doesnt do it.. nor the rear tires

car is gen 3 v6

any info please!!!

first have the car on the ground, make sure the strut rod bolt is tight on the cap, if that is, then (from what i understand) take off the wheel, and make sure the strut to knuckle bolts are tight. if thats all good, id start wondering about your ball joints...

if by front to back you mean towards the front and back of that car, then id have to say its a control arm bushing.

correct

ok i apply my palm to the very top of the tire and i can move the tire front towards the front of the car

and back to the rear of the car

its as if the tire only has movement from the top

i know theres something wrong cuz i tried the pass. side front and when i do the same thing the whole cars moves front and backwards...

Well now that youve specified direction, cause i thought you meant movement from the top of the tire out and in towards the engine. Get your control arm bushings checked out.

i had taken off the tire and found everything to be fine.. doesnt look like theres any problems
i tried moving it but wouldnt move.. it only moves when the tire is on the floor
i didnt check the ball joint nor the bushing for the control arm...

well, the easiest thing to do would be to jack up that side of the car and wiggle the tire as you say. it should be quite easy to spot whats missing/worn out if you are under it. i was thinking control arm bushing because thats the control arms job to keep the wheel assembly from moving front to back. but you said you can move the tire back and forth while its on the ground? wtf jack it up and have a more thorough examination of whats flopping about.

from what you describe, you turned the wheel foreward, and backward...like youve just found play in the trans.

if you push the top of the tire in from the top towards the engine, and out from the engine, then it may be your strut cap,or your strut to knuckle bolts (the big bolts at bottom of strut).

if you push/pull from the bottom of the tire, towards/away from the engine, then it could be your lower control arm bushings, or ball joint.

otherwise it could be that your lug nuts are loose (i hope not), or your hub bearings are bad.
