4th Generation Which Spark Plug Would You Use?

Hello all wise ones again! Thinking about doing a tuneup on my 1999 Camry 2.2L but not sure which spark plug to go with. I beleive right now there is the Bosch Double Platnium in my car but I was wondering about changing to an IRIDIUM plug! Would this be better or even recommended? And any good tips on which wires to buy? Thanks !!!

The consensus here is to not use Bosch in anyform. Or even those splitfires. People often go for ngk's or denso's.

Please search and you should find decent opinions on them. Things like plugs are often already discussed.

Pretty sure the Toyota engineers knew what they were doing. With that in mind, what does your owner's manual say? Mine is pretty specific on what is required and I can only guess that they know more than most of us her on the Toyota DB.

Cool

Double tip electrodes were gone too on the early wasted spark years. Toyota then went back to single tip electrodes when they realized that long-term, they still wear the same.

^^^^^^^ search more, common question.
bosch is FWBW
(For wankers by wankers)
or people that don't know better.
NGK, or Denso only.

Copepr FTW platinum is a waste of money & iridiums are debateable. Very long life-sppank VS copper. To the extint that 1 iridium = 6 coppers.

problem with long life plucs like iridiums is that by the time you would go to change a copper plug, you shoudl really check your long life oens anyway, as jetspeed found out, they foul up, even on a good tuned motor, so you may as well get cheap plugs and change to brand new plugs

You can't go wrong with Denso Iridium Plugs...

I have Denso IK-20's in my V6 and I have Magnecor KV-85 Competition 8.5mm wires... Awesome combination... Just my 2 cents...

4th Generation Denso Plugs Indeed!

I pulled my plugs yesterday and they are indeed Denso...oh ya baby! They are a light brown color so I guess they are burning well!

i guess that depends on the engine and its condition. i had platinum plugs on my 3sge celica and didn't touch them for 5 years. i replaced them a few months ago only because of the age. when i took them out they looked fine.

on a V6 engine, you'd want to go with platinum/iridiums mainly because of the hassle of getting to the rear ones. but on an I4, i guess it doesn't really matter.
