Canada leaking valve cover

I thought I had posted this, but can find no record of it. If I have, please forgive me for re-posting. The rear valve cover of my 93 V-6 is leaking a bit... awful smell. I read that it takes 4 hours to replace the gasket. Is that just grunt work, or does it need special tools and/or knowledge? I do have a manual. Thanks

Actually it calls for 2.8 hours per Alldata. Basic tools should be enough. If you are a new to auto repair, I wouldnt suggest doing it yourself. However if you are familiar with newer engines and confident enough then go for it.

^ what he sadi- it's really just time consuming is all as long as you've done other work yourself

otherwise, let a mechanic do it, since it involves removing a lot of things to get to the rear valve cover

Only thing I'd suggest for special tools would be a Tirque Wrench. Other then that, it's all basics, and as said above, just time consuming. I just changed (actually, in thw process of putting it back together) the gaskets in my '96 V6.
