how exactly did you overfill?

a bottle of oil is 5 liters, you put 4 in, leaves 1 spare... o_O

I put 4.5 qts, by mistake, stopped too late. I didn't think it was a big deal. Is it really bad? I already drove 100 miles. Permament damage? (96 Camry 5SFE)

No you're fine don't worry about it man. If you drove it like that for a long time, then it would matter.

Excess oil in small quantities is not that big of a deal. Won't blow your engine or other significant issues. The big issue is you REALLY overfilled it - then you would be talking about foaming, loss of lubrication and other issues. If you were talking about an auto tranny then the comment would be different. You are only .5 quart above the normal level. Leave it alone and drive the car.
