has any one thought of a way to mount a switch under the dash to control if the ignition can be engaded. i was trhinkin about this the other night since i have a nice switch lyin around. so has any1 done this and did it work or is it not worth messin with the electrical to do it
i have one, its called a kill switch. i basicly just used my hanes manual to trace one of the ignition wires goin to the starter and put a switch in-line. on it will start, off it wont and u cant hotwire it, buuut i think ill let u guess where it is.
A friend used a magnetic switch mounted just behind the dash. You have to know where to place the magnet to start it and, once started, it stays running without the magnet. Pretty neat trick I thought.
Why would you post your security options on the world wide web ??
so theifs can read this and know what you might have?? By the way its not like you drive A ITR which gets stolen everyday

Actually you're wrong buddy. Camry's are one of the hottest stolen cars out there to date. Yes, Honda's are in high demand for theft. But, it has been proven in multiple places that the Camry and Accord were one of, if not the, highest stolen car rates.
I also would be interested in something like this. PM me bigbird, or else just post here what you did (location and color of wire). I would appreciate it.
Yeah, I can't imagine a thief coming here to hunt down doomie16 or bigbird's car just to steal it, especially knowing that there is a killswitch somewhere.

True, I'm guessing because they're the most popular cars on the road so the most valuable to part out:
Most Stolen 2005: National Insurance Crime Bureau
The NICB top ten list—the number in parentheses is the model year most stolen:
id LOVE to watch u try to find it, i could watch an entire season of family guy in the time it would take these cars were highly stolen cars but i doubt anyone would try to steal mine(POS), but for like 2 bucks for a switch, why the hell not.
i cant remember the wire, ill try to look at it but it was pretty simple.
You can just pull the fuse on the ignition and hide it somewhere in the car. My car has a ghetto theft deterrent, you can't start it without the headlights on. I'm sure I could rig up the same kind of deal with any other part of the car. It would be funny to make it so you had to honk the horn to start it.
Another TNer (not saying who) put thier kill switch on their fuel pump.
One of few ways to actually prevent theft. The problem with putting in kill switches is that they're EASY to bypass as they frequently tie in right at the steering column.

Who came up with this 500px wide BS?
Not that I care... but the last time someone tried, they broke both my door handles and couldn't get in. I laughed all the way to the junkyard to find new handles cuase neither could I. Had to break in to my own car. 4UC<
I'm not afraid of someone stealing my car, since a modified camry is worthless on the market - parts have holes in them from stuff being mounted, etc. and the only thing the car would be good for is a joy-ride, but an alarm will keep the kids away.
I'm afraid of the pros that are after the stuff IN my car
