Steering wheel woes...

I just bought the 94 Coupe that was in the "for sale" section, and the air bags are deployed... It has cruise, so do I need to change that along with the steering wheel? Can I get an after-market steering wheel and still keep the cruise? How in the )&$%^* do I get the old steering wheel off?

ah, you just bought blackcoupeLE's camry?

an aftermarket steering wheel will not work with the cruise control.
the trd one, or another toyota one can be spliced up....some people have done it (or so they say they did)...but nobodys's actually posted up which wires you need to make it work. most people can't get the cruise control to work with other steering wheels and just forget about it

as well, to get the old steering wheel off, you have to get a steeringwheel puller

Not really needed on imports. Domestics are another story . I just worked mine side to side and it came off with no promblems.

There may be a removable tap on each side of the steering wheel. Remove the two tabs then use a Torx bit to remove the screws. Pull out airbag and disconnect wiring. Put front wheels in straight ahead position. Remove steering shaft nut then use a bolt puller to remove the wheel.

true true....but I'd rather spend 10bucks on a puller than sit there for half an hour jiggling my steeringwheel.

that, and it's a handy thing to have around anyway
