Help wanted: window tinting %

Hey, I was wondering if everyone could help me figure out what % I should get for my camry which I'm planning to tint by this week. I called the place where it will be professionally installed and they said they will tint my side windows 35% as thats the legal %'s in T.O. While the back I can choose whatever % I want. While the front I can't do anything as its legal to tint the front. Therefore I need some help choosing what % I should get for the back window. My camry colour is blue/gray, not to bright or to dark just in the middle colour. I will post some pics when i get back home as I'm at Uni at the moment.

Any help will be great!

P.S. I was thinking about getting 35% for the back too but I want it dark'er but not tooo dark so I need a good % that will look good on my camry.

5% on the back only? wouldn't that make no difference from no tint? I also want something dark so it wont show much during daylight as my backseat headrest didn't came with the camry when i bought it. So I want to hide it from the public cuz right now it looks naked if you look from the back of the camry

5% is the amount of light that come thru the tint (at least i think thats what it is) check the show and share section for my most recent pictures (from yesterday) and you can see how dark it is.

35% is common for most states. but alot of tinting shops will install whatever u want. depends how strict ur state(province) is but i like 20%. its on the threshold of being able to see out well at night.

wow are you serious that those are 5% tint on the back of your windows(just checked your recent pics, very nice gen 3 camry). And yes thats the kind of darkness I want.. do you remember what % were all your windows excluding front.

He already stated that the front half has no tint and it's 5% everywhere else.

I have 14% all around.... As far as police i have been pulled over a few times and none of them seemed to notice... although i do put my windows down while i'm pulling over

Go with at least 20%... anything too much higher defeats the purpose of tints in my opinion

whoa wait so from what your saying.. the lower % the darker it is??? holy crap lol i always thought it was the OPPOSITE of what it suppose to be..wow maybe I'll just go 30% all around excluding front.. I don't think it will be illegal to have that %.. I hope.. cuz i surely dont want to get pulled over by a popo as my record is still 100% clean.

I got mine tinted 35 in the fronts and 20 in the backs

if I could redo it I would prob go 30/15 or something close to that

o ya and I would tint the front windshield like 70 prob and do another 15 strip on the top

20% ftw. I'm pretty much getting 20% on every car I own in the future.

Get 15% on the back and 20% on the rest. The only reason for getting the 20% is increased night vision. I could barely see out the back of my car at night so backing up without street lamps around was a little difficult.

Canadian huh..Your car is old enough that they probably won't ticket you because the car is older than when they enacted the tint laws up here. So, just say it was on my car when I bought it... or say that you got it done when you got the car depening on how recent that was.

If they ask you to prove it by bill of sale say you don't have it anymore. If they can't prove you paid for illegal tint, they can only give you a warning and tell you to go get it removed.
I had 14% on the meter when I got ticketed. I got a warning and left it on for 5 yrs. and never got pulled over again. Just don't drive around with your windows half down and the po's won't bug you.

Besides there are only a few po's in all of t. o. with a tint meter in the car so the odds of being checked are unlikely.

hmmm i got 20% all around my car and in less than a week a cop pulls me over and i was driving with all my windows down the whole day and automatically comes out of the car with something in the hand and what do you know it was the machine to check the tints and came up 17% so she gave me two tickets one for the front and the back that sucked ass. Took it off and it was my first dealing with a cop so I only paid the surcharges. Tint laws in nyc is over 70% which of course who bothers so im going to try my luck this spring with 35% and see how it goes.

Damn.... I guess in NY they super strick then... Limo tint (5%) is what the cops will really get on ur ass for... I had a friend who had limo on a solara... it was like they painted the windows black no matter what lighting it was in... She got tickets like ever other week until she took them off...

30% something is too light, u can get a tan in ur car with 35%.. go with 20% or a little lighter... or if u go 30% get 20% in the back windows (as in the two back doors)
