suggestion for remote starter?

Hi

I got 97 Camry le with powerdoor option. I understand the viper or the rs3200 properly are the best keyless/alarm option. But it cost too much. Any one can give me some cheap but good solution for the remote starter/keyless and where to get it? I heard about the bulldog, are they good?

Thanks

I bought a bulldog remote starter for around $40 at walmart 4 years ago and it was well worth it.

I have a 95 1mz-fe, install time was a couple hours (most difficult thing being the brake pedal activated shutdown).

I do not have an alarm. The thing starts every time i press the button with no hesitation, nuff said.

ive heard that the bulldogs are decent ... my 95 camry came with some crap alarm system that i ripped out 3 years ago because it wouldnt let my car start and i havent ever replaced it, but i know other people with various systems ... i think you pretty much get what you pay for to a certain extent

Yes, you do get what you pay for. You can buy a cheapo remote start unit and it will do the job just fine. But the more money you spend, the better the range is and also the features you get out of higher end systems. I have the Viper 791XV 2-way remote start/alarm (retails at $505) and I love it. Range is plenty good. I would HIGHLY recommend a 2-way pager system, whether you get alarm too or not.

I cannot stress enough how important a 2-way paging system is!

Got a quesiton about those 2-way system. You should get notification when the car is doing something... But how about when the car is out of range? For example, you park your car in undergrand parking and you are sitting at 20th floor. Can you still get status display on your remote?

Since the camry is 300k. I don't think it's a good idea to put a $500 solution on it... If bulldog is enough, I go for it.
