3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I don't think many people will know that spec off the top of their heads, however, there are both generation 3 and generation 4 Toyota factory service manuals stickied at the top of the General Camry Discussion forum. They are available for free downloading. The spec should be in there.
Np! It's actually, not a problem, I just want to see a ~40mpg round trip tank, and I think if I can somehow get the ECM to see higher IATs (i.e. lower resistance) then I can have control of the mixture and run it a little lean. I have a feeling I'll have to keep the sensor unhooked and use a couple 1Kohm pots so I can adjust the average mixture for each drive depending on the temperature, but I'd like to have something where I could drop the resistance by ~.5Kohm across the board, and lean out the mixture based on the signal, but I think I can base it on the pot alone too, especially in the summer.

Actually, if you know someone that is REALLY top notch at tuning a stock ECU, you may be able to pull that off without looseing performance. My friend has a '94 V6 Camry and was able to bump the HP about 40 more, PLUS get 34MPG under regular highway driving. That may be a better way to go.

Hmm... Tuning the stock ECU? I wasn't aware we could reflash these puppies. I'd have to be able to flash it back to stock for smog, but that would be the perfect solution.
What my friend did is completely change the Air/Fuel delivery on the car, and that is how he got it. I dunno how, but I know it took him a while. IF you did do that, I'd actually suggest to get a 2nd ECU, stock, you swap it for smog. If you put it back to stock, you'll have to completely get it retuned.

That stuff is above my head right now, haha. I;m trying to learn about that type of stuff. Remember too, that tire pressure has a lot to do with gas mileage. Most people forget that.

Swapping would be the best option. So far I get ~33-35mpg under slow highway driving with no mods and my tires at 50psi. I figure I've gotten to the limit of what I can do with driving habits, so now it's time to start leaning her out. And I found the AFM mod, so I'm hoping for 40mpg!
