3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
ok, first off, im not a mechanically inclined 17 year old so ill do the best i can to describe to you guys what my new (new to me lol) camry does.
its a 92 and it has 4 wheel disk brakes
it really doesnt do anything bad, but its a little annoyance. im thinking its the rear brake. it squeeks. you dont have to be moving. if the car is in park and shut off, if you push on the car, or or put wieght on the back of it, it squeeks. if you are moving it squeeks. it only stops if you are stopped or if you firmly push the brakes.
sorry if i didnt clearly describe whats wrong... if you have an idea, or want more details, let me know! thanks in advanced!!!
have you checked your parking brake. maybe firmly pushing on the brake masks what maybe be causing the squeak. when you are moving, does the squeak change pitch or anything the second you hit the brake?
if you bounce the back of the car does it do it? if so its suspension related... considering unless you have the e-brake on, the rear brakes are not engauged when in park.

ok, my ebrake just goes down but doesn engage. maybe the problem??
also i looked under the car next to the inside of the wheel and i noticed the sway arm (maybe???) and it looked like it was barely connected. the other side looked normal. ill take a pic for more clarity of what im saying tommorow when its light out.
My guess is you just need a lot of overall normal wear and tear pieces replaced. thats the sway bar link, and yes, they are a "normal" ware and tear item. but to be honest, without actually being there in person, I can't make a determination. But I'd almost thing your E-Brake is sticking.
If you jack the car up, and spin the wheel, does it keep turning, or imediatly stop? That would be my 1st test to determine Brakes or suspension.
