3rd Generation Snapped Hood Release Cable

Hey guys,

IS there anybody know how to fix or have some experiences on fixing a sanpped hood release cable. Haynes manual doesn't have anything on it, just some hood replacing procedures.

Is it going to cost me an arm and a leg to let a shop do it, thanks in advance

it really depents on where the cable broke. in most cases the cable breaks at the release handle and you still get at the cable inside of the sheething with some needlenose visegrips and unlatch your hood. more details would help us help you.

My car has really been acting up. It snowed here last weekend and I was unable to pull into a parking spot because my tires would not spin. Someone helped me by pushing my car into the spot. I noticed when I came back I had a major dent in my hood. I was succesful in opening the hood and jumping the car.

Next day my car dies again and I am unable to pop the hood from the inside latch. I then peer into the grill and try pulling the cable. I noticed the cable connected to the lock and tried pulling, I can hear the inside latch popping but not the hood itself. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

My car was involved in minor frontal collision, the hood was bent up and radiator support frame was bent in. I guess that's where cable broke.

Strangely enought after I fixed the hood, I was able to relase it using the latch a couple of times . just recently the symtops appear.

is your hood stuck in the latched position?

Yeap and it looks pretty to open the hood from front grill, let alone to repair it
