3rd Generation 95 Camry with no back up lights

This car belongs to a friend of mine and I havn't seen it yet but she said she hasn't had back up lights for the last couple of years. I was hoping someone had a little insight on what this might be before I get a chance to look. She said her dad looked at it once so I'm assuming he checked the easy stuff, ie bulbs, fuses, ect...

Thanks in advance.

It's either a break in the wiring which is near the trunk hinge or the reverse neutral safety switch. If I'm not mistaken, for the latter, the "R" indicator on the gear selector in the dash will also be out if the reverse lights aren't on. This is what happened to my mom's Camry. If ithe "R" indicator is still on and works, I'd learn toward the wiring in the trunk.

Good luck!

I have a 94 that had the same problem, check inside the trunk, beside the left hinge.
youll have to pry open the flexable conduit, my wire was pulled apart there .
I spliced a short piece of wire because the two ends wouldnt hardly come together.

Also, DO NOT overlook the obvious. Make sure the bulbs are still good.

Thanks

Just wanted to thanks every one. It was a broken wire by the left hinge. Easiest find in a long time. Took me a while to get the car here to look at it. Your friends are always so happy when you fix thier cars. Specially after two years.
