I recently got pulled over today because my windows were too dark, long story short make sure were you get the precentage of visbility checked before installing them. I thought mine were 35% dark meaning 65% visbility but I got a 24-28% (I was given two numbers) visbility. So I advise anyone living in NY to stay away from cops if you have tints because I was pulled over and now must remove my front tints and pay a stupid fine. 70% is the visbility limit in NY.
Anyways I was looking on eBay for blank keys and I came upon BMW, MERCEDES-BENS "Flip Keys" alarm set. Don't want the alarm set but the blank "Flip Keys" and get them programmed to my current alarm. What do you guys think about these keys.

you dont owe that ticket, the shop that did the tint does, if u bought the legal limit, then they are leagly bound between a +/- 2% margin of error up to the state legal limit. at least that how the regulations are here in the MD area. the only way they have around that is to make u sign a wavier. same thing happened to me and i got them to remove and replace mine for free and when they install it there supposed to match the light% to the car not just install the requested % tint, cuz alot of cars already have factory tint to a degree. if u did it urself then ur SOL. consider ur self lucky, in VA thoes SOBs will actually scratch up ur tint to MAKE u fix it.
the keys arnt built like BMW or Benz, they have broblems with breaking at the hinge, but if ur not to hard on it then they work fine. budy of mine went through 2 before he realized that
The shops that I've been to in NorCal have the waiver as part of the service agreement when you bring the car in. The waiver says that the customer has requested the above work to be performed and that s/he understands the tint regulations in the state.
but im thinking that they did that to be assholes, because I havent had a problem until today. unfortunately I am getting my front tints removed but planning on putting them back again in the winter, but I'll be sure to stay away from cops next time, and I thought that 35% was the state limit since alot of cars have almost the same amount as mine. BTW how do you know that the store installing the tints have to pay a part of the ticket, i've never heard of that.
and i'll try to be easy on the key, but its going to work because my current key, I have to wiggle it out of ignition.

if they dont have u sign a waver for the service then when u request 35% tint they should(if there a resectable shop) make sure that with the factory tint(if there is any) the % will be around 37-33%(in MD). if they do neither then there liable for the cost of the ticket cuz its there fualt that the legal state limit they installed did not pass a light meter test. now some places will warranty the tint and if have to will replace it for free for life but most places that ive done buisness with gave a warranty and did a light test before and after install to ensure quality.
at my place where i go mine installed. they didn't even have a tint meter...plus i think that MD and NY have different laws, but can their be a way saying that you did get them off and not really take them off...bs-ing that you did when you didnt...
I planning to, after I finish paying this shit, re-put them back on. FUCK ALL COP!

well here in MD we have to complete a service order and bring it to the MVA and they have to inspect and verify that it was completed. dont know how it is in NY,
The 35% tint you got means that only 35% of light is transmitted. The lower the number you go, the darker the tint is. If 70% is the legal limit for the front windows in your state, then that pretty much means that you cannot have any tint on the front windows because there is already a slight tint to the window. If you do want tint on the front windows, without attracting too much attention from cops, I suggest getting 50% on the front windows. I have 50% on my front windows in California, with no problems.
But there are so many cars around here with tints, right now i'm at work and I saw like at least 10 cars with tinted windows, some even darker than mine, when I get home i'll try to post a picture I took of my tints, I really think they were just being fucking assholes, trying to fill a qouta. And im not sure on what to do. i'll find out what I have to do to get my tints back, got to talk to my mother, since she is the actually owner.

u broke the law, its 70% light transmitted urs is 24-28%. You cant really argue that unless the shop promised you and lives up to their word that it was legal. Other people have it and just havent been caughts. Thats the risk with tints
as for your key problem, it also could be that your ignition lock cylinder is dying.

wow guy you mustn't not read my posts because I had the same situation but mine read 17% front and back and i put 20% in the first place. Also the legal limit is more than 70% light has to go through and that goes for the back windows too... i repeat back windows it's just not the front ok...the only thing that doesn;t matter is the rear window but for us 4 door cars the front windows and the back windows has to be more than 70% basically any window where you can open and close. Personally I would get lighter tints like 50% in the front and leave the back as it is and good chance they won't bug you but regardless there are always those assholes who want to ruin your day!! Also when you put lighter tints in the front ask the shop to write a receipt like if you took it off and show that to the dmv lol.
