My 96 V6 viberates bit more when gas is low?

When put auto shift in "D" and stop, I feel more shaking on the steering wheel
when gas is low (1/3 or lower). Quite strange??

Anyone knows a cure?

Thanks lot.

first of all, the fact that you're feeling shaking at the steering wheel is more indicative of worn/broken engine/transaxle mounts than anything else.

as for the shaking itself, i don't think it would be caused by your fuel level, probably more to do with the engine temperature in conjunction with the state of your IAC valve and throttle body housing... try cleaning them out.

and as for an EFI's system fuel pump running hot because the fuel level is low would only apply if the Gen4 has a wet pump.

not being familiar with the Gen4, i don't know if it has a wet pump or not. but AFAIK all wet fuel pumps work fine until you actually run OUT of fuel as they have their own reservoir within the fuel tank. it would be ridiculous of manufacturers to design a fuel system that would put a fuel pump's efficiency at jeopardy when the fuel level got down to 1/3.

I'm thinking this has to do with front vs rear weight balancing; the fuel is gone, the rear is lighter, the front is taking more on more weight, that could be leading to your mounts feeling extra stress, i.e. more vibration. I know when I got mine, I had excessive vibration at the steering wheel, I'm still to replace all the mounts, but the best remedy I've found myself is to make sure the timing is set right. Mine was a few degrees off and when I got it in time just right, it vibrated but nowhere near what I had originally.

Thanks for reply. It puzzles me too. The shaking I meant was not that bad at all.
I just feel it vibrates a bit more just like a normal car with AC turned on.

I am just wondering that, if there is anything in the car that will use the fuel
level as input to adjust the engine speed or anything.

You mentioned engine temp, IAC and TB. I don't think they are related to the
gas level, right?

By the way, I did TB and IAC cleaning couple months before using seefoam deep
creep. I did not notice much difference.

Thanks again.

right. they are not related to the gas level at all. the reason i mentioned them is because that's the usual cause for engine idle to drop down lower than standard whicn in case causes more 'shaking' than normal.

not on a toyota camry, no. but other manufacturers have implemented such measures... usually on cars worth a LOT more than a toyota camry.
