little camry fixes

Mileage: 211K miles
year: 1994
engine: V6 3.0

Things to fix- Valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, exhaust manifold gasket, intake gasket

Day 1: Finally got motivated to get going on this work. Was going pretty good, till i got stuck on an intake bolt- one of the 2 hex headed ones (8mm?) in the middle of the intake. It looked like someone tried to get it off once before and rounded it a bit. i soaked it with liquid wrench and tried to get something done.

I unbolted the front intake manifold and pulled it off. cleaned off the old gasket gunk. How do you get the o-ring gaskets on the manifold off? I didnt want to break anything since I wasnt sure. Im quite impressed with how well the internals look after 211K miles and currently needing an oil change.

Now i need to figure out how to get that damn hex bolt off. maybe try cranking down the other 3 and see if that helps any. gonna let the liquid wrench sit for a day or so and go from there i guess.

bend up little tabs. watch old seals brake apart as you try to pop out with a screwdriver. wack new ones in with a socket.

Day 2. I finally got the intake bolt out. Bolt extractor pounded on+ heat+ lot of muscle. FINALLY. trying to get the manifold off, its attatched at 50 different spots. looks like the last piece to take off is the EGR(?). took off a couple nuts, but i guess it isnt enough. calling it a night before i go crazy.

maybe tomorrow.
