4th Generation Tire Size Suggestions Please

2000 camry ce i-4 MT

i have bout 3-5k miles left on my current tires. so im shopping for some new ones online.
im looking at performance all season tires. i was thinking about getting some summer. But i decided to go with better tread wear. i was looking into 195/60/14 tires. im still on the stock 14 steelies. the stock tires or the recommended size was 195/70/14. but the lower profile will get me lighter tires. but then i was thinking of getting some wider ones like 205's. im on stock suspension. any suggestion's? between the combination of 195 - 205 and profiles of 60-70? Thank you in advance.

If you want to keep the stock wheels, then get the same size.

If you're willing to get some wheels, then 205/60R15 or 205/55R16 tires would work well.

Alloy wheels will cost more, but there are other options.

You can get used 15" stock steel wheels from an LE for very little money. You can also get used 16" stock steel wheels from a gen5 for not much money also.

if im sticking with stock steelies. then u said i should stick with the original 195/70's?

Keep the 195/70/14 if you want to stick with your steelies. If you wanted wider tires, get 205/65/14, but tirerack does not carry that size.

Tirerack.com has 15" Kosei K1 wheels that are only 13.5lbs for $129 ea. There are probably cheaper prices at other places.

Stick with that if you have 14s since there are not much selection in tires. When you go up to 15s and 16s, the standards are 205/65/15 and 205/55/16. If you want wider, get 215/60/15 or 215/50/16, but your speedometer will be off a bit.

Yes, your speedometer will be 6.2% too fast and if it said you're going 60, you're only going 56.3 mph. I guess that will save you from a speeding ticket.

I have BF Goodrich's Traction T/A on mine. 195/70/HR14. $65 per tire at TireRack.com I highly recommend them!

I've tried the Dunlop Sport A2's and they were horrible, didn't last me at all.

go 15s and TA's from Sam's club

Borbet H's are about 100 each at Tire Rack. 205-60-15 for handling or 205-65 15 (the V6 size) for longer life and a better ride. If you have a Sam's club nearby they carry the "Touring TA" which is the same tire for a good price and U can't beat their warranty and service- free rotation and flat repair with rebalance. I have H's and Ta's on my 99 (upgraded from the 14s) and among other things the offset is just a little wider whcih makes all the difference in looks

Because I'm still under debates on whether going with 15" or 16" wheel/tire combo, I've been looking at the 215/50/15 for a bit wider tire. Anyone running these, and if so what's the ride quality like? Any issues with rubbing on lowered cars (h-tech)?

Sorry, not trying to thread-jack...

Any lower profile tire other than recommend on a 14" or 15" rim is going to give u some serious fender gap!

Then ur going to have to drop it!

You know it's getting lowered, so that won't be an issue!
